In 2014 Jessica had an idea. She wanted to help her incredibly smart teammates tell their stories, better. While they were all advanced in their specific fields, they lacked the skills to convey the true benefit of their work. Rather than just rewriting their slides, she wanted to teach them. She believed that everyone has the ability to give a great presentation, all they needed was a little practice.
With the encouragement from her manager, Jessica built a mini workshop leading her team through a series of communication fundamentals. Her manager and team were so impressed with how much they learned, they insisted she share her wisdom with others. Before leaving Nike in late 2018, Jessica had taken over 800 employees through her storytelling workshops. She had found her calling as a storytelling workshop facilitator.
Today, she continues to work with many departments at Nike, as well as other small businesses in Portland, Oregon.
Jessica lives with her family in their SE Portland, Woodstock Neighborhood Home. With her toddler son, she enjoys story-time at the local library two days a week, traveling, cooking, gardening, swimming, running with her foxhound and extensive home construction projects with her husband, Mike.
